My first ever post.

I have not been blogging very long but it was still interesting for me to go back and read my first post. Already since February 2011 I have forgotten to alternate activities as the pain specialist suggested. Maybe I am just doing it without thinking but I am not sure. It was a first for me to start this blog as I was letting the world know I had myositis - that was a big decision for me but I thought it was for the greater good: so someone else might understand a little about this condition and maybe it would help them get information that you don't find on medical sites.

Here is part of my first ever post:
"Tuesday, February 1, 2011 Just about today
Today I spent a lot of time on the computer - too much I fear, as I will feel it tomorrow. I feel it now the burning pain in my thighs and the dull ache in my shoulders. This is par for the course with myositis and I am trying to sit only for half an hour at a time and then get up and do something different as the pain specialist suggested.
(Being a specialist in pain, wouldn't that be depressing! I know they are helping and I think it is wonderful that we have them but seeing people in chronic pain all day could be a downer.)

Also ..." READ THE REST IF YOU ARE AT ALL INTERESTED IN THE MUNDANENESS (is that a word?) OF MY DAY.
Also with this disease, as with any, there are many firsts:
First time wearing wrist supports, first time having a muscle biopsy and first blood transfusion, first full body scan to look for cancer, fisrt time I realised almost every joint in my body has arthritis, first time asking for help when I cannot do something, first time accepting that I will take these medications or some variation of them for the rest of my life, first time realising that illness makes you change and you have to learn to accept it...
